Q: What makes STRAPPED so unique?

Q: Will I lose weight with STRAPPED?
A:   With a STRAPPED focused mindset, your vision may look a little different than what you've come to expect from other fitness programs and classes. With STRAPPED, your overall experience and wellness are our first priority. STRAPPED is a strength focused class, where there is less emphasis on intensity, and more on knowledge. We take a different approach to weight loss by developing a group environment that emphasizes high rate of return workouts with minimal stress to the nervous system. You will build strength, confidence, mobility and mindset in your STRAPPED program, and the result is often a reduction in body-fat. If your goal is body recomposition, please consider purchasing the STRAPPED SUCCESS LIFESTYLE program with Crystal, this program is professionally tailored to YOUR individual needs. Q: Can I replace my gym membership with STRAPPED?
A:  From an efficiency standpoint, a recent study showed that despite the widespread use of conventional devices (such as weight machines and dumbbells) and their resulting strength gains, on average, 50% of people who adopt this type of training give up during the first year of practice. This data is justified by factors related to financial cost, logistical difficulty, and lack of time, which make its use impractical in many scenarios.  STRAPPED allows greater adherence and accessibility with similar/comparable results to spending endless hours a week in the gym. With STRAPPED,  target EVERY part of your body, every joint, every major muscle group with proven strategies including time under tension, volume training, mobility and flexibility, cardiovascular conditioning, breath and mindfulness.  STRAPPED does not have to replace your gym membership if you truly enjoy the gym environment or if weight lifting is your jam. In fact, STRAPPED classes pair beautifully with any other type of fitness you enjoy.
Q: Will I get stronger and gain muscle in STRAPPED?
A:  Absolutely. In fact, a 2019 study shows that training using resistance bands provides similar strength gains to using conventional gym equipment. There is no question using resistance bands and your own bodyweight will work muscles you didn't even know you had! When you consistently attend the STRAPPED program, you will be amazed at how quickly you get stronger, developing fullness in your lean muscle tissue creating visible muscle definition! ​ Moreover, resistance bands allow for the same amount of muscle activation as weightlifting but with less chance of injury. Bands place less force on the joints, which means the muscles can be stimulated more. This is great for the injured or older population as well as those who experience joint pain.   ​ An added benefit is that stability is required with many exercises when using resistance bands. Therefore, your ability to stabilize and control your body will increase. Core activation for balance is very important in many of the exercises we teach in all STRAPPED classes. The ability to control your core is essential when moving through the full range of motion of a movement, permitting more muscle stimulation and strengthening.
Q: I'm terribly inflexible, will I be able to take STRAPPED?
A:   ABSOLUTELY! STRAPPED was created with your needs in mind! Many people think that Yoga is king when it comes to flexibility. In reality, a full spectrum approach including stability (strength) and flexibility is what creates truly mobile joints, along with the muscles that surround, support and connect them. The strength aspect of STRAPPED involves progressively loading the muscles which allows the safe and effective movement of your joints by way of stronger ligaments and tendons.  Learning how to efficiently breathe through movement is the essence of yoga. With over 1000 yoga teaching hours, Crystal has incorporated the very best elements of Yoga and Pilates into every STRAPPED class, particularly STRETCH and SOOTHE classes. Get away from the mindset that you are limited by inflexibility and try something new, to once and for all, improve your life for the better. Prove to yourself your overall mobility can be improved AND maintained for years to come through the STRAPPED system. ​ STRAPPED has been PROVEN to assist students with hip and knee replacements, shoulder injuries, back and hip pain, and reduced spinal mobility. We are not medical doctors and we can not prescribe therapies specifically to injuries and surgical recoveries, but we are highly supported by the medical and alternative health communities including Osteopaths, Physiotherapists, RMT's, Chiropractors and many more. Many of our loyal STRAPPED students are learning how to live a happier life post hip and knee replacement We have had multiple students thrilled to recover from life long pain through the STRAPPED program.
Q: I love the gym and lifting weights, what benefit would STRAPPED have to my program?
A:  STRAPPED was created by Crystal when she noticed a complete deficit of this type of training in the bodybuilding community. Crystal had been in the weight room for 30 years, competed in several physique competitions, and had extensive knowledge of hypertrophy, nutrition and body fat recomposition - but continuously felt something was missing. Through the guidance and expertise of her coach Frankie in Indianapolis IN, Crystal was taught the necessity of resistance bands in the weight room, and the value of emotional support from friends as she struggled with a serious life changing illness after her final competition in 2019. Resistance bands for Crystal will always be the catalyst that completely changed her outlook on strength training. STRAPPED was not created to replace the gym or any other activity you love for that matter, STRAPPED was created to ADD to your already amazing lifestyle. ​ Unlike free weights, a band's resistance increases as it continues to stretch, with the greatest resistance at the apex of each exercise. When lifting a barbell, dumbbell or kettlebell, you know you're lifting a set amount of weight through a full range of motion but what you may not realize is that at the apex of each movement, you get a little break. This break is eliminated with resistance band training, and a highly effective way to increase anabolic activity. ​ Truthfully, most dedicated lifters use resistance bands in tandem with weights and exercise machines when they plateau or need to push their limits a little bit further without adding additional stress. STRAPPED offers serious lifters the perfect complement to their established routine. Strapped can balance out their existing routine by improving joint mobility and muscle flexibility, adding volume style training, incorporating dance to improve balance and coordination, and perhaps most essential, learning proper breath patterns and nervous system regulation. Take a chance on something new and see how the STRAPPED lineup of classes can elevate your existing training program in a way you never imagined and in the most FUN way possible!
Q: I am peri menopausal or have gone through menopause, can STRAPPED help me?
A:  We are here for you. A 2022 study concluded that resistance training may be an effective intervention to improve menopausal symptoms and increase women’s quality of life. Q: I've recently had a baby, can I take STRAPPED?

Q: I'm a senior, is STRAPPED too advanced for me?
A:   When we say STRAPPED is designed for EVERY body, we truly mean it. Age faces no limitations in STRAPPED classes as the program intensity is ALWAYS your decision. ALL STRAPPED movements are safe for all ages, but in the event of a limitation every single movement can be offered an alternative. Moving "on beat" is critical for maintaining motor skills in the age advanced population and classes like SYNC offer repetitive movement patterns proven to build strong memory and cognitive function. STRAPPED classes such as STRETCH and SOOTHE are excellent resources for older adults.
